The Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has said cordial relationship as well as deep show of love and tolerance among Christian and Muslim faithful was what is needed to move Nigeria forward and to remain as an indivisible entity.
Mimiko in his Eid-el-Fitri message by his Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, said he rejoice with muslim faithful in the State and across the nation as they celebrate Eid-El-Fitri, urging them to imbibe and put into apt use, the lessons of the Ramadan fast which centres on love and tolerance.
The Governor described the observance of piety, self-denial, discipline, and love during Ramadan fast by Muslim faithful across the country as an indicator of the possibilities for Nigeria to remain a united and peaceful nation.
Mimiko, who enjoined Nigerians to use the occasion to rediscover and show greater love to one another and by extension the country, urged leaders of various faiths across the country to exhibit exemplary leadership role through genuine commitment to peace and security and religious harmony.
“I must not fail to use this festive season to urge leaders of faith in our nation to exhibit unparallel commitment to peaceful co-existence and tolerance. We have always lived as one irrespective of our faiths and I want to further urge us not to allow negative developments elsewhere to distort our values such as love, peace and tolerance,” he said.
Mimiko therefore prayed that the Almighty God grants Muslims the reward of faithful adherence to the month-long annual fast, even as he asked for continuous prayers for the State and the country in general.
