A painter’s workshop in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State has been uncovered by operatives of the State Police Command as a place where stolen vehicles are refurbished.
Daily Independent reports that the owner of the place, whose name was given as Akposere Philip of 363 Agbor/Sapele Road, Abraka, has been arrested and he is now said to be undergoing investigation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the development, detectives from the Police Station, Abraka, acting on a tip off, raided the workshop and recovered one Honda Accord S/Wagon with Reg. No. (EDO) BEN 994 RF.
She pointed out that preliminary investigation had revealed that the said Honda Accord was snatched at gunpoint from its owner last month at Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, Edo State, and informed that two other suspected stolen vehicles under refurbishment were equally recovered from the workshop. She disclosed further taht efforts were on to track down his cohorts.
In a related development, the DPO in charge of Akwukwu-Igbo Division and his patrol team have arrested an armed robber and as well recovered some ammunition.
The PPRO disclosed that while the security officers were on visibility patrol along Atuma/Otulu Road, they flagged down three persons on a motorcycle, who stopped and jumped into the bush.
