Gazidis-WengerArsene Wenger has expressed his shock at Tony Pulis’ departure from Crystal Palace and revealed that he would not consider working with a Director of Football.
Pulis reportedly walked away from Selhurst Park on Friday, because of disagreements with owner Steve Parish over this summer’s transfer dealings.
Wenger welcomes a manager-less Palace to the Emirates in their League opener in Saturday’s late kick-off.
“It was a complete surprise and what consequence that will have I don’t know,” Wenger said. “But he has done a remarkable job, he worked a miracle.
“I was at the managers meeting Monday and he showed no indication of it. I don’t know if it will have an impact on the game.
“Transfers should be the managers job, if not we are just robots.

“I couldn’t work with a Director of Football. The guy’s responsible for the results should be responsible for buying the players.”
