Twitter users are currently mocking CNN for accidentally mapping out Nigeria instead of Niger while highlighting countries affected by the deadly Ebola virus on Tuesday.
The news channel in its reports on the spread of Ebola in West Africa (Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia), claimed there were 1,603 cases, 887 deaths and 55% fatality rate.
However, it wrongly mapped out Nigeria as one of the countries hit by the virus, using the colour red to highlight the country.
A Nigerian, Taiwo Odusote tweeted “Apparently, CNN doesn’t know where Nigeria is” while another user, Temi Ige wrote “Yeah, so CNN doesn’t know where Nigeria is…that’s actually really worrying”
A non-Nigerian also said “CNN, that’s not Nigeria with the red, correct the map, reminds me of the time CNN mistakenly labeled Brazil as Hong Kong”
