Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan, Sunday morning arrived Washington DC to participate in a three-day US-Africa Leaders Summit.
His aircraft landed at about 8am Nigerian time.
There was no official reception at the airport but the president was received by a group of Nigerians at his hotel.
In a brief speech, Mr. Jonathan promised to improve on the security and economy at the nation.
On his health, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, told Channels Television that speculations that the country’s leader was indisposed were untrue, saying his boss is “hale and hearty”.
He also debunked reports that Mr. Jonathan and his delegation would be tested for Ebola virus.
President Jonathan is joined by about 50 other participating African leaders for discussions that are expected to lead to greater progress in key areas such as expanding trade and investment ties, promoting inclusive sustainable development and expanding cooperation on peace and security.
Rumours were rife on Friday that he might not make the trip due to alleged ill-health.
