Former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, may soon declare his interest in the All Progressive Congress, APC, presidential ticket.
One of his aide told Daily Sun at the weekend in Abuja that the Adamawa-born politician had embarked on extensive consultations with stakeholders at home and abroad.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the defunct Action Congress, ACN, in the 2007 presidential election, won by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua, returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2010 but lost the party’s presidential ticket to incumbent President, Dr. Jonathan.
It was gathered that before his formal declaration of interest, the former vice president would embark on a nationwide tour to meet with religious leaders.
The source said: “The former vice president and his newly formed team will be interfacing with diverse religious and professional bodies nationally and internationally.
“His mission is to gauge the pulse of the people on the many troubles bedevilling the country with the aim of finding genuine and lasting solutions to them.
“To be called Atiku’s Peace Tour, the objective is to take messages of peaceful co-existence, true nationalism and an end to religious fanaticism and extremism that breed rebellion and anarchy.
