Iran v Nigeria: Group F - 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilThe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), have confirmed that they are set to begin discussions with coach Stephen Keshi over a new deal.
Keshi, who has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2011, has been linked with the vacant South Africa post, after his current contract ran out after the World Cup.
“The executive committee mandated the technical sub-committee to open channels of communication with Mr. Stephen Keshi with a view to extending his contract, as the NFF is still interested in working with him,” a statement issued by the NFF on Thursday read.
“The technical sub-committee is to report back to the executive committee within a week.”
Keshi is expected to be offered a new deal, as Nigeria begin preparations for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The African champions are in the same group with Sudan, South Africa and either Congo/Rwanda. The top two teams will qualify for the tournament.
