Apparently having difficulties in convincing the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Suleiman Umar Dikko to set-up a seven-man investigation panel over the planned impeachment of Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, a highly placed government source has revealed that a former Chief Judge of Nigeria, may be approached to prevail upon the Chief Judge to play along in the impeachment process.
Although the presidency has repeatedly denied complicity in the process, a source confirmed that it is neck deep and that emissary have been sent to talk to the former Chief Justice.
“We learnt that the Nasarawa Chief Judge, who has been described as a highly principled person, may not go along with the assembly following the wide spread resistance to the impeachment moves across the state, hence the need to involve more senior judges, to compel him into setting up the seven-man panel”, the source told DailyPost.
According to him, the House of Assembly, which has been operating outside the chambers of their complex, had directed the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State to set up a seven-man panel to investigate allegations it leveled against the governor.
DailyPost also gathered that the Assembly members are allegedly involved in a N2 billion bribery scandal, which they have been using to blackmail Governor Al-Makura.
