Impeachment tsunami: We are behind Governor Shettima – Borno Speaker

Following the ongoing speculations of impeachment threat against Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled House of Assembly, the Speaker, Abdulkareem Lawan, has affirmed that majority of the legislators were in support of the Governor.
Lawan, who spoke to Journalists on phone from Saudi Arabia, where he had gone to perform the lesser hajj (Umrah), said the leadership of the House and more than two-thirds of its members were more concerned about how to return peace to the troubled state and not impeachment.
According to him, the claim by ‎the House’s Majority Leader, Idrissa Jidda, that most members were defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with former Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff was a personal opinion, which did not reflect the position of the leadership and other members.
