The Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Shehu , has confirmed to newsmen that 25 people died following today’s bomb explosion along Alkali Road, Kaduna-Abuja. Earlier, witnesses said that about 35 people lost their lives in the explosion as a second one went off few hours after the first. The incident reportedly occurred around Alkali road, near Murtala Square, where muslim faithful had gathered to round up the Ramadan Tafsir led by a prominent Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
DailyPost reports that the bomb exploded few minutes after the programme which ended at about 1:00pm, killing people who were departing from the venue of the event through Alkali road.
Relatively, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari escaped death at the whisker in the second bomb blast as his convoy was reportedly targeted by gunmen who fired shots at vehicles conveying him and others. Buhari, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was said to be on his way to his Daura home in Katsina State when the second bomb exploded.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Kanuna State, Alhaji Muktar Yero, has imposed a 24 hour curfew in Kaduna city following the twin bomb explosions that rocked the metropolis
