35-year-old man dies while testing gun charm in Owukpa

With the ongoing invasion of herdsmen in Owukpa community of Benue state, coupled with the mysterious killing of some indigenes of the community by the attackers, villagers of Ugbugbu, the headquarters of Ehaje Ward 11 embarked on a dangerous move to repel further attacks on them through some diabolical means. Like an improvised thriller, youth and men of the community gathered in a house of prominent business man to test the efficacy of the charm a famous native doctor brought for them from a neighbouring community- Orokam.
Eyewitness told DailyPost that three people including the said business man (name withheld) were shot, and bullets fell off their bodies, a sign that the charm was working; then it was the turn of a 35-year old Ogbada Ogbodo, who fell to the bullet that was shot at him in a close range.
Ogbada was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The deceased was a former youth leader of Atamaka community.
Several calls to the police post in Ukwo Owukpa were fruitless as the Officer in charge of the station could not be reached as at the time this report was filed.
DailyPost reports that Owukpa community and Fulani Herdsmen have been at war over the latter’s refusal to leave their land.
